Autodrom Most Twingo cup (Lema Racing)

Aug 4, 2024

Intro

First of all I was extremely happy that I'm once again going real life racing an this time in Most with the Twingo. My hopes weren't high but I also didn't see myself last.

Practice

Well this is It first track time of the weekend and first few laps on this track IRL. But what is that sound ? It is raining, and these cars only have semislick tires it's gonna be a real challenge. As I come on track I start to get to grips with the car but the first thing I see that the geometry is off and by off I just wrong. My wheel was like halfway right when I was going straight. But that wasn't the main problem. The main problem was my skill :D since it was wet I tried going very carefully but found out later it's safer to push cause you have more temp in the tire. So I spun, twice, and ended in the gravel and that was practice for me.

Qualy

I had high expectations cause it was dry, but that was before I realized that the team didn't fix the car at all although I told them to. But I said to my self, "okay let's make as much as possible out of this". The max I could do was P19. So I had a long way ahead of me I the race.

Race 1

Race 1 was once again wet. But this time I knew how to approach it. The start was behind the safety car so that was a plus for me. I started behind Michelle Jandova and Jure Hrzejnak. I pushed as much as I could and in the first lap already made up few places since people were going off. than I had a fight with Michelle but she was putting on good defense but eventually I managed to go past her in T1 since she made a mistake. I caught up to Jure and tried to overtake him into the hairpin but as I shifted to second my car became unstable and I spun so I lost that place and in the end it was P16.

Race 2

Race 2 was finally dry and I could go all out. It was a standing start from P16. My start wasn't the best but I managed to keep my place and even move up to P15. Than it was just a few laps of max push behind Jure Hrzejnak. And then the Saftey car came on track. There was a huge crash on main straight and 3 cars were out. thanks to this safety car Linda Frey and Michelle caught up to me an on the restart Michelle divebombed me into turn one and since I had a compromised exit even Linda overtook me and I was back down to P16. For the rest of the race I was extremely close to both of them and I knew I had the pace to pass them but there just wasn't enough space on the track. I had a moment where I could've gone 3 wide which as I look back on it i would've probably made it. I decided to play it safe and back out. on the main straight in the final lap though I had a mega exit and we almost went 3 wide across the line, if there was just one more lap I'd overtake them both, but that's racing.

Summary

Overall it was an awesome experience and thanks to Lema Racing for giving me the opportunity to drive for them. Also thanks to Michelle and Linda for the amazing racing especially in Race 2. I hope to drive this car on track more often but stay tuned for rest of the year and next year cause we have some big things planed but I can't really talk about them now.
