Introduction

This was the first major event with AFS Racing and I was pretty hyped for it and I had high hopes, although they were short lived. I started alongside: Juraj Smister, Marek Nitsch, Martin Pristas & Radim Novak. Seems like a pretty fast team which is actually true but in racing you have to sometimes be lucky which we weren't.

Qualy

I drove the Qualy and I have to say it wasn't bad, I put us on P5 with a lot more room to improve. The car felt good and I was ready to start the race and find some more laptime.

Race start

This is the part where the high hopes disappeared. As always in motorsport you sometimes have clean starts and sometimes there is a complete mess on the start. This was the messy one. I completed the formation lap and went in double file onto the star/finish straight. This was good, but then T1 came. I was hit from behind and spun around. It was pretty okay even though I fell to the last place.

Later stages

In my first stint after the T1 crash I managed to put us to amazing P3 but I had to give the car away to my team mate so that dropped us back again. After that I had a long brake since I only had to drive the night after that. But in mean time my team was racing and was even leading the race for a few hours. It was all going good until my team mate had a disconnect which demoted us to 5th.

My second stint

I was given the car in P5 and even I couldn't really do much about it. i was pushing as much as I could but it wasn't good enough. I drove the entire night basically cause one of my team mates decided to get a little more sleep. But I have to say it was fine, I felt good in the car and that was the main thing. I finished at around 4AM and went to bed.

Next day

Next day I drove yet another stint and we were still in P5. And this is where something that happens to every race car driver comes. I crashed, and I crashed hard, the car was totaled. I had to tow it back to pits and do a repair and this put us in P6. since there was only about 3 hours left I tried to salvage as much as I could but it wasn't enough for P5 and we finished P6.

Summary

Overall it was an experience and I got hit with the fact that I'm not a machine and even I make mistakes. Most importantly I managed to salvage as much as possible from those mistakes and still place us on P6 which is a good spot. As always thanks to AFS Racing for having me In their team and giving me the opportunity to drive for them. I'm excited for next races.
