24H Nordschleife (TOBS eSports)

Jun 4, 2024

Intro

To introduce this event, it was my first major event this year with a new team and a new car. Since I was used to driving LMDh and GT3 cars stepping into a GT4 was a new thing for me but thanks to my team I managed it well. I was racing with TOBS eSports and my team-mates were: Kyran Chef, Isidor Trondson, Elias Fernando and Lewis Rickard

Qualifying

The qualifying went better that we expected since we managed to qualify in an amazing third position and we were set up very well for the race.

Race start

The race start was firstly very chaotic since due to technical reasons it was delayed for about an hour. Luckily admins managed to get it going and we were ready to go racing. Now for the start it self. It was probably the cleanest Nordschelife 24h starts I've seen, there were almost no crashes over the duration of the whole first lap.

Later hours

For about 5 hours we were chasing first place and even after time this long we were still just seconds behind them. Until one lap the odds turned in our favor and we managed to overtake the P1 on the exit of the karusell, which was a turning point in the race.

My first stint

In my first stint we were already in the lead and my job was to just hold onto it without crashing which I didn't… Right in the first lap after leaving the pit I crashed massively on the exit of foxhole. Well as you can see not always the luck is on your side and things don't always go as planed. But I managed to drive a stint with the damaged car then repair it and redeem my self on the next stint when I gained about 30 seconds on the car in front.

My second stint

After this exhausting first stint it wasn't long until my next stint (every driver had 4 stints but I'm talking only about the 2 major ones here) this stint was only after a "short" break cause it was late at night. I personally enjoy driving at night and this was no different the stint went amazing. I was doing personal best lap times every lap and being consistent even though others were making mistakes. But then again disaster struck when a GT3 Ferrari misjudged the space on the inside of one of the corners and divebombed us. Luckily it was the last lap of my stint so I just brought the car back and gave it to my team-mate. (The Ferrari was later punished)

The end of the race

The end of the race was not really chaotic at all. Since this was a 24h race on probably the hardest track in the world by the end everyone had enough and just wanted to bring it home in one piece.

Summary

To summarize this race, It was by any means the best race I've done in my life since we led basically from start to finish and at the end we won the race with a 3 laps gap over P2. Thanks to TOBS eSports for the opportunity to drive with them and I hope to have many successful outings on and off the track soon. By the way 24h LeMans with AFS Racing is already planed for may ;)
